2008 Season - Week 19
And then there were four
There is a chance that the two number 6 seeds will face each other in the Superbowl for the first time ever. Philadelphia went into the Meadowlands and beat the defending Champion NY Giants and Baltimore got through after AFC number 1 seed Tennessee shot themselves in the foot 4 times when in the field goal range. Phili will now go to play Arizona who dominated in Carolina while Baltimore play Pittsburgh who allowed San Diego just 1 snap from the 2 minute warning at the end of the first half until the start of the 4th quarter!
And then there were four
In the Pittsburgh game San Diego scored a meaningless TD with 1:53 to go and down by 18. It wasn’t meaningless for Johnny however who after 238 minutes of play was down by 5 points to Andy H. Then Sproles took a pass over the middle & ran past the Steeler secondary to score a 62 yard TD , meaning Johnny beat H 21-20. Johnny (13-12 in the postseason) has still yet to make the BUMSBowl in it’s 13 year history and joins 3 successful play-off owners. He will play number 2 seed Chief (24-10) who beat AP 33-18. Marcus (20-7) upset number 3 seed John 23-15 and will play the top seed Wayne (10-7) who beat Mark B 28-16. Wayne has made 2 finals while Chief has won 2 and lost 1 & Marcus is unbeaten in 3 BUMSBowls. Johnny, Marcus and Wayne; teams to me by 10am Sunday please.
Dungy retires
Tony Dungy retired as Colts head coach today. Voted into the BUMS Hall of Fame in 2007, he's the only coach in NFL history to produce six straight 12-win seasons &10 consecutive playoff appearances. As well as his success he is a real gent and will be missed by the game. He is succeeded by Jim Caldwell while Denver announce Josh McDaniels as their top guy.
All-BUMS Voting
Time to vote for your favourite players of 2008. Attached are the top scoring players at each position. As per usual I need (in order) your top 3 Running Backs and top 3 Receivers plus your number 1 & 2 Quarterbacks, Kickers and Coaches. These should be with me by Thursday January 29th so that the votes can be counted and the team can be announced at the BUMS Superbowl Party on Sunday February 1st at BUMS HQ from around 10:30pm.
BUMS on Seats
And then there were four. The Championship games are late on Sunday night so we are splitting them over two nights. We are at BUMS HQ at 8pm Sunday to see live the NFC Championship game as Arizona host Phildelphia and then at Mark’s from 6:30pm on Monday to see As-Live the AFC decided in HD as Baltimore travel to Pittsburgh. As a result the newsletter will be sent on Tuesday. SO PLEASE NO EMAILS NEXT MONDAY.
